i need your advice!

holy crap, time is flying fast! i'll be saying "goodbye, asia" and "hello, europe" in less than 2 weeks. i totally took your europe travel tips (thank you again, by the way!) and put them in my pocket for future use. but at the moment, i've booked absolutely nothing but my ticket to london.

i like the freedom of not knowing where i'm going or when, but i'm seriously considering israel and egypt, which requires some consideration. i need to decide on these 2 countries first, since the rest of my travels from east to west through europe will hinge on this decision.

i've been posting around on travel sites, and thought i'd post my same concerns here, in case someone out there can help me:

hello, i'm backpacking through europe starting in march, but would like to visit israel and egypt first - then work my way west, starting in greece. in light of recent events, i may just scrap the idea and start in greece.

i'm female, asian-american, with a US passport, traveling solo. hoping for some advice on the following:

1. is it ok to arrive in israel (by air) without an onwards flight? i want to travel from israel to egypt by bus, and do not have an exact date, therefore no proof of onwards travel.

2. any recommendations on a safe, reliable bus company to take me from israel to egypt? the less hassle, the better.

3. is egypt safe(r) yet? the u.s. just updated its travel alert yesterday (feb.18), but i'd like to hear from someone who's actually there now.

4. what airlines fly from egypt (cairo) to greece (athens)? and is there anything special i should know about traveling between the two countries?

if i have to scratch egypt off the list, i'm scratching isreal too unfortunately (flights from london to tel aviv are a bit pricey and i want the most bang for my backpacking buck).

thank you in advance for any suggestions!
